The only problem would be the intelligence... there are mods for everything (SDK, pitman...) but the intelligence would have to just be a block i guess.

yea, that's the problem... We'd have to set up a server and install all of the mods and such. not too much work unless you don't have a server

skins would probably work just fine for most classes. we could either have everyone use a special texture pack or we could all wear different skins to look like our class and team
to miners need cool shoes to edit derpy to look like the engineer
I guess we wouldn't be able to make it exactly like the real TF2. It would still be pretty close though.

yea you're right. what would be the point of it if it were exactly like TF2? then what would be the difference between the two?
like add some minecraft ish stuff like despensers just droping food and ammo iron ingots as metal use for building and so on
that would probably work really well! we could use some already existing mods with it so the dispensers actually gave out ammo and maybe food too, not just metal.
like randomly placed bread cobble and ammo so when you walk over you get a random item
Well, i could rent out a 30 slot server, and get some plugins set up for you guys, i also have someone who is a pretty good plugin maker, so i could put the idea of the CTF through to him.
SDK has most plugins already

There was a great plugin called spyer, where you could go invisible for short periods of time, say 10 seconds... Sadly, its inactive now, it was called spyer.

Well, you could easily assign different access groups, that could be added through the use of spout, which makes a GUI selection screen of the 'classes' each round, but technically you are selecting the plugin set, not too complicated.
okay i have never hosted a server only been mod once. so i'm not that knowledgeable of running a server
Ive hosted one of the most popular servers on PMC, so id say i had quite a lot Nah, no bragging here. On a serious note though, this idea is totally realistic, but the thing is it couldnt be a large scale server, to be honest it would be extremely cool that if this did well, then a large amount of servers could be hosted, such as in Team Fortress 2 servers, each having a different map. Because you couldnt have 200 players running around 2fort, with 100 spies backstabbing you as soon as you walk out of the spawn.
We could add a whitelist to the server or just limit the amount of players at a time. My brother, a couple of friends and I have a small server at home set up and it wasn't too hard to make. The only problem is resources. A server hosting site maybe? Also, if the Yogscast has this http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/85.236.100.12:37015/ then if this ever gets off the ground we could go to them for publicity or help.
Sure, if you ever needed my help with any problems, or my team could help, then just ask, we have a lot of experience where servers are concerned, and i like this project.

Honestly, with the right coordination and management, this could go far. Hopefully once you get things solved, i can help out a bit, id love to see how far this could go, which i think could be very far.

yeah that would be really annoying and of course i have heard of your server sadly i don't know how to port forward so i could never join so i didn't even put in an application
All your basic ports should be forwarded anyways, so you dont need to portforward to join a server, only to create one, because you need to open the right ports.

Im pretty sure that because your port 25565 is closed, it shouldnt restrict you connecting to them, got any internet blocks/filters on?

Right now the big obstacles are the server itself and maybe making our own mod to add GUIs and other TF2 items that Minecraft doesn't have. We're happy to have anyone who is willing to help join. Skinners, modders and mappers would be very helpful.
Maybe we could set something up so every week we rotate the map and type? just an idea...

I don't know if you feel this way too but before we do this are you sure you're up for this? Before we pay for the server? not to be pessimistic...
You should make a seperate topic, or server page post for this, and you could probably get a wider selection of people to help.
