i`ve reached the stronghold and i have searched for hours now, but i cant find the portal. so can you give me some tips on how to find it?

Did you find the stronghold in 1.8.1? If you did their wont be a portal and the eye of ender wont be able 2 find it. the eye of ender does lead strait to the portal.

i don't think there is always one... wait, doesnt eye of ender go to the portal room?
i tried that, but it goes into some other mountain or something
