NO!!!
I was trying to put the portal gun mod on the 1.2 version Minecraft and then it black screened. So I deleted the Meta inf. Still it black screened. So I downloaded another minecraft application. And then it worked. Or so I thought.... I looked at it and went to single player. My worlds were GONE! I still have the saves file but no clean minecraft.jar. Help!

I forgot to mention this but part of the "installation" video was to rename minecraft folder to minecraft.jar in the bin. So I took out the jar, I think I still have the jar but I am not sure. Would it still work?
check the world folder and see if there is a file called level_old.dat or another name like this
if there is, you can delete the level.dat file and rename the level_old.dat file to level.dat

the portal gun mod is for 1.1, not 1.2
