so i know that the pre realease is out for minecraft 1.8 already. but im not sure how updates work on minecraft. ive only been playing since 1.7.3 and ive never done and update before. Say if 1.8 the full release comes out tomorrow, when i open the launcher will it ask if i want to update? plz tell me how this works thanks

It should automaticaly update. If not, You have to force the update. You can do that by going into the options in the launcher and clicking force update. Then it will go through the process of updating your minecraft!
