if you only used 1-10 mods then it's fine, if you use a lot of mods then it's a disaster, especially since so many good mods from 1.7.10 were neber updated past 1.8.9, or even 1.7.10 *cough*buildcraft*cough*

I voted for above 1.8, since I usually use the latest possible version, but when I play modded I use 1.7.10 and I'm also on the XBox One, which has a different update system.

EpicnessLord12I use 1.11.2 so as to be able to use servers.

i can easily host a beta 1.7.3 server, what are you talking about?

He's talking about your normal servers?

You clearly missed a big chunk of his message there.
He mentioned redstone, and there has been a redstone update in 1.11.2.
Also, that you can host one doesn't mean his favorite servers are beta 1.7.3.
I can even make a beta 2.1 server if I want, I even did, but with no success. (Almost) nobody wants to play on that version anymore.

^^^

Sorry, your a vanilla user so let me explain. We have these things called 'plugins' that allow us to add things on to our servers. One 'plugin' uses protocol changes to allow multiple versions to join one server - a massive letdown & difference to vanilla. I can (on my SPIGOT/BUKKIT) server, allow 1.8-1.11.

(this was satire, don't take it too seriously)

Also, minecraft isn't exactly well coded, and there are probably modders with better coding habits than Mojang. Just because they made the game doesn't make them coding gods.

avronaOh boy where do I start:

Heck we had most of 1.9 features before 1.9 was even thought of.

There is a difference between lousy mods and proper updates from talented people.

Not to mention its a "Sandbox" Game, If you dont know what that is (and I dont think you do)

Seriously, it's coming down to making people seem dumb? For your information I know what it is, and I love it, but even in sandbox game there is so much you can do before running out, or something annoying gets in your way. That's where updates come in.

hate to mods

Let's focus on that for a second. Where have I ever said I hate mods. I don't. I've been trying to learn how to program for a while, so these people are still doing a better job than me. But they are only mods. They are not the game, nor all the great updates, that let me remind you, are not then compatible set mods. This creates what I call the "Mod Burn Cycle". New update starts out with no support from mods. I call this the "Cooldown Period". This is the time for the vanilla to start catching up. The pure game for the reasons it is loved get's explored, first creations from new mechanisms are being made, and the most importantly, first loopholes to achieve things a mod could have done is discovered. However then the first mods start coming in. However some mod makers don't want to update because of constant updates. It because too much work so they stop. They are BURNED out, hence the Mod Burn Cycle. Then the servers are starting to use the later features to try and stay ahead of other servers, like MIneplex using elytras in their latest game Skyfall. This causes the mods to stay out of the main light even more, as the versions are becoming even more outdated than they already were.

calling us a fanboy for loving mods is the most pathetic thing

What are you even talking about? Living in the stone age versions of Minecraft is just not worth anything (except getting payed, I would play with it if I was getting payed ).

most pathetic thing I've seen apart from the 1.9 Combat update

What's wrong with 1.9 combat? That's the update in which they fixed combat.

Your a vanilla fanboy yourself that means.

I'm not. I just don't think anything is worth sticking in super outdated versions (except money )

Modding = More Players = More Money = Profit

That may be true, but it's also a bad sign. People are buying the game for the game that that game isn't.

Modding = When game is boring = its adds more fun and people want friends to play with = possible profit

So what updates already do, just with 10x more polish?

Modding = Modded Servers + Modded Playing Players = Server Profit = More Players For Minecraft = Game Profit

Once again, people are buying to get the game that isn't Minecraft? Anyone else worried by this?

Modding has been a thing since Beta,

Well back then when there weren't many versions and there was less stuff it kind of made sense, but now it doesn't really. Like the day-night cycle in the game, time is moving on, so let's not bring things that will slow down the machine of Minecraft with us. Just wave a final goodbye to 1.7, 1.6 and whatever else you have, and let's move on, to all the new and exiting things Mojang have for us.

The brewing stand and cauldron, did you know they were originally mods!

I knew that. I am not a complete foreigner on the world of mods. But this is like another form of making a suggestion for Minecraft for the devs to see. It is certainly an interesting way of making a suggestion, but so many mods simply don't match the style of Minecraft, making the mod sea a sea of beautiful fish that really match the overall aesthetic of Minecraft, and sharks that are ready to pinch Mojang's ankles. I can see how separating the good from the bad can be hard for them, especially seeing how many mods are in outdated versions. If you got a suggestion that can really help Minecraft, put it where all good suggestions go.

So before you state modded fanboys are a waste, they're actually helping the game develop and its a larger community then you think

Can you get off that soapbox already? Been recycling basic facts that I already know.

Just please stop just stop

???

You can say you like 1.9 then other versions but when it comes to modding think for a second,

What do versions have to do with it? You could say you liked 1.7 because it added stuff into your liking, but remember that there is also 1.8, 1.9, 1.10, 1.11, and 1.11.1.

Hey modding added this this and that to the game

So what that it added stuff? It's a mod, not an update.

i should show abit of respect to the mod creators,

Oh boy, it's coming down to this. Like I said eariler:

I've been trying to learn how to program for a while, so these people are still doing a better job than me. But they are just mods.

Unfortunately there are close-horizon vanilla fanboys for some reason...

See how that works?

No because there is nothing there.

Guys, Avrona has blogs about how 1.9 and 1.10 will save minecraft,

Thanks for reminding me to start writing the 1.11 one.

plus he's anti bukkit and mods,

He may blind to facts and logic,

What are you even talking about?

Mods adds more to game you can't deny that,

Yeah, but have you ever heard of updates?

try mods give em a chance and you'll see a whole new minecraft.

I have gave them a try before. Had a world with around 6 mods. And it wasn't even Minecraft anymore. Neither was it fun anymore. It felt more like expired, cheap jam filling for doughnuts, rather than a tasty, sugar free addition that played perfectly with the doughnut, or the game itself in this case.

minecraft evoling

Again, ever heard of updates?

EVERY game and you can't stop that.

That's ok. Some games are better with mods. I have so many mods installed for Cities Skylines it's hard to count them all. Thankfully Steam counted them for me and it turns out I have 812 mods installed. But's that's because those mods fit. I play Minecraft to play Minecraft, not some other game.

Also Bukkit is pretty useful for a succesfull server.

That's a whole other story, including the anti-vanilla bias and so on and so on. Unless you want me to get into it I won't. Let's just leave it at the server side of the bias is a bit different than the bias in the regular side of the game.

So Open your ears, well in this case eyes,

I already have them open, but for quality additions.

Yes Im aware myself, mainly cause hes biased towards his server.

???

He has the attitude of "I Want everyone Like what I want to like

What??? I'm so confused. Where did that come from? Let's get this straight:

1. Stop making stuff up about me.
2. Stop making me seem like a bad person from stuff that doesn't exist! Ok? Ok.

Now i get where your coming, i really do see where your coming from but you seem abit "Oh mods what a waste of utter time and its not minecraft its like another game" it really isnt, thats the point im attempting to get across to you and that you seem to be abit of a nagger to people who like older versions and mods. So i would ask of you to least try turn down the thought process of "mods make minecraft not minecraft" Its still minecraft just with more content and its updated more frequently. And lets get 1 thing straight Modders work just has hard mojang keeping their mods up to date keeping their mod fresh in the air. "

So what that it added stuff? It's a mod, not an update"

Mods can become updates as said before, Pistons, brewing stands, cauldrons even horses were mods. Mojang as seen recently see mods as inspiration and use the idea and use it as their own. So i think you could possible show abit more respect to mods if can you would be nice, as a show of respect to the thousand or modders who work hard as nails to do what they do.

"Once again, people are buying to get the game that isn't Minecraft? Anyone else worried by this?"

Again mention above, Its the SAME GAME just extra content and updated more regularly blah blah blah,

" Just wave a final goodbye to 1.7, 1.6 and whatever else you have, and let's move on, to all the new and exiting things Mojang have for us."

Some people just cant let go of the classic, all you can do is wave and support them.

"but even in sandbox game there is so much you can do before running out, or something annoying gets in your way. That's where updates come in."

Mods also help with that!

"So what updates already do, just with 10x more polish?"

keep this short, they make updates based around mods blah blah blah

"What's wrong with 1.9 combat? That's the update in which they fixed combat."

personally i enjoy the old combat system and its matter of perspective if they fixed it or not. Big Servers like hypixel, mineplex seem to show no liking for it, as they're still on 1.8 due to combat messing up alot of games.

"There is a difference between lousy mods and proper updates from talented people."

Again modders also spend years learning code and forming it into the game just like mojang again, Show em abit of respect for their hard work

"Let's focus on that for a second. Where have I ever said I hate mods."

You dont really have to say you hate mods, your gave an impression you disliked mods, ""There is a difference between lousy mods and proper updates from talented people.""

"But they are only mods. They are not the game, nor all the great updates,"

Said Above ^^^

"New update starts out with no support from mods."

Well Duh, New Version = Hard Working Modders Need to Develop the new Forge Version to match with the new coding

"first loopholes to achieve things a mod could have done is discovered."

Then a mod created that vanilla cant do and loop begins again

"However then the first mods start coming in. However some mod makers don't want to update because of constant updates. It because too much work so they stop. They are BURNED out, hence the Mod Burn Cycle."

You gotta understand its hard work. You have to spend days to get the mod itself onto the newest version. Then you gotta make sure it works then you start adding more features to the mod, Again Respect mod makers blah blah ^^^^

" Then the servers are starting to use the later features to try and stay ahead of other servers, like MIneplex using elytras in their latest game Skyfall. This causes the mods to stay out of the main light even more, as the versions are becoming even more outdated than they already were."

Still though, from what i've seen the the pvp ones are still 1.8 to avoid the new combat system.

Can you see where i come from though? You don't have to say something for someone to tell someone you dislike, Just show abit of respect to mods and modders overall and your go along with your life with no trouble from us mod lovers! I don't like the combat system cause im just too classic style for it, and if you cant respect that, then why should i respect your point of view on it? If it was toggleable then i have alot more interested in the lastest version. Still my point is, you show a lack of respect towards Modders and Old version Users, as such referring old versions "outdated" or "stone age" It Depends on the point of the view of the person i purpose if its outdated or in a 'stone age'

So overvall Lets end this fight here,
Just show a little respect to us modding community and old version users and people will show respect back to you. Simple Yeah? Cool! Hopefully this ends that

Thanks

Least we aren't living in the Lemon ages. Just because they arent the newest doesn't make them Bad, in fact the versions you Like are the ones most people hate. Vanilla is So limited compared to modded versions of 1.6.4 and 1.7.10...

avronaSo what that it added stuff? It's a mod, not an update.

Still Better then the recent Updates. Alot of the recent updates are just watered down mods, we've had them features for a long time, Just in a better form.

Ha You probably played with dodgy mods or something, or your computer aren't powerful enough to run mods. They don't ruin the game, the improve the game. I can make Factories, I can make Vault doors that work, I could make a decent railroad with acutal trains, I can make proper looking Highways and roads, I can make Little details in the builds I do thanks to Microblocks, and the list goes on, You will never be able to any of that in vanilla. Even In 20 years (If they still update this game that is ofc). I will admit, The updates leading up to 1.7.10 were all good, now they are all worthless when talking about 1.9 or higher. 1.11 will NEVER save minecraft, Mods will. Period. Most PC games Including Minecraft only still have a large commiunty thanks to mods. Not the Useless watered down Mods we call updates.

avronaI already have them open, but for quality additions.

Coming from someone that says 1.9 was a good update, Which the update that ruined minecraft even more. Not valid.

The same goes for Minecraft. My advice is you switch to console versions to get out of the way of people who love mods.

What? Why should I? PC is the most up-to-date one with the best stuff. Unfortunatly there are mod fan boys for some reason, but I can live through it because extra stuff for Minecraft to mess around with is always welcome. I mean, 1.12 is already in development!

Its not ment to be Minecraft Minecraft, Its A edit version which game devs like to
support as it gets people to keep playing the game itself. Also i would droup the smartarseness (If this doesnt suit mods likely feel free to change it) cause that will only take you so far mate.

What? Why should I? PC is the most up-to-date one with the best stuff. Unfortunatly there are mod fan boys for some reason, but I can live through it because extra stuff for Minecraft to mess around with is always welcome. I mean, 1.12 is already in development!

Unfortunately there's the 0.1% (aka you) that hate on mods. And I already have the stuff your waiting for (But alot better) with mods. Heck we had most of 1.9 features before 1.9 was even thought of. Not to mention its a "Sandbox" Game, If you dont know what that is (and I dont think you do) is a game where you can do what you like, and Mods just add on to whats already there.

And far as I know its pretty up to date, But theres no mods, so it would be heaven for you cause of your hate to mods, calling us a fanboy for loving mods is the most pathetic thing I've seen apart from the 1.9 Combat update. Your a vanilla fanboy yourself that means.

The same goes for Minecraft. My advice is you switch to console versions to get out of the way of people who love mods.

Its not ment to be Minecraft Minecraft, Its A edit version which game devs like to
support as it gets people to keep playing the game itself. Also i would droup the smartarseness (If this doesnt suit mods likely feel free to change it) cause that will only take you so far mate.

What are you even talking about?

Ok then, modded isn't worth doing.

So before you bash mods, actual know a few things about mods before hand

When I rarely watch some vids of modpacks, etc. it just hurts to look at. It's like some other completely different game, that isn't Minecraft. It's like taking Minecraft out off Minecraft. The adventures that belong, the castles that have to be built from blocks that belong, the mobs that feel right and are interesting and that fit that need to be fought or tamed. The memories that can be built from the stuff that makes sense.

I played with some mods before, it was ok. I did it back when 1.8 was the latest version. But when 1.9 came out those mods came out the window. What's better? Another updte full of awesome stuff, or some mods which are not Minecraft from people who are not Mojang, and do not belong to the game that is Minecraft.

Sorry Avrona

It is impossible to say mods arent worth playing, espically on 1.7.10
Im bored of vanilla it no longer interest me and i find it lame worthless to play, because why keep playing something i've already beaten multiple times for 5-6 years now. Sure you can "say" Mojang is updating and evoling minecraft! Yeah really slowly and some feature are pointless, They added llamas, hey before adding new mobs why not fix the ocean biome? That biome is utterly one of the pointless biomes in the games.

Now you say 'Newest is the best' from what ive seen, however i say different, 1.7.10.... pretty good version, Espically for mods... 1.8? hmm ok mod version but still 17.10 takes the cake. on Minecraft 1.7.10 there are utterly THOUSANDS (Maybe abit less but you get the point) of mods that do what mojang does and better. While mojang is adding llamas, mods are adding: Jetpacks, Trains, Cars, Trucks, Boats, Helis, Tanks, Jets, 1 Million more blocks, Machines, Auto Builders, Auto Miners, Auto Farmers, Solar pannels, Nuclear reactors, Roads, Vault Doors that WORK, Loot Blocks, Tardis that have animation and go to different dimensions, Cows that give you fluids, Chickens that give you resource like wood, New Armor, New Tools, Nukes, Rocket Launchers, Space ships and the list goes on and on and on to the point of anything is most likely possible in minecraft.

So can you still say "Modded isn't worth Doing" Can you say that again now?!

So before you bash mods, actual know a few things about mods before hand

Thank you

Yeah but topic wise, 1.8 and below, just cant beat the classics for me, modding wise, mechanic, and that just nice feel of being around the ol days

Adding on to this, He has only ever played with Lucky Blocks mod according to another thread.

Wait wait wait, first i think you were just a 1.9 fan supporter who basically told anyone who dont like 1.9 they dont deserve the game but this is just getting uttely ******....
Have you ever played a game. People are bound to modded any game in any way possible and its something games sometimes like to incourage, mods = possible bigger fanbase = more money. Now what i get from this, your saying people who make mods dont belong to game as in Shouldn't have it or ain't apart of the game minecraft? How does this matter? Minecraft in it's current state is for everyone. The older veterans, the younger veterans, the noobies, and the no-clues. Sure you have seen more of it if you've been playing for a while, but how does it matter. You just have some more memories of how things used to be, before Minecraft evolved and expanded.

Minecraft expanded apon every update, and I saw that. I saw more change that you did in 1.8 to 1.9.

I just personally believe 1.9 changed the game style which was not what the game originally intended to be (when it had Notch himself making it, or other now non-mojang developers)

._. but mods add more content, and its not like mojang disagree with mods.
they encourage them.

I could add THOUSANDS more blocks than in minecraft 1.9 or newer with mods for 1.8 or 1.7.

theres probably even a mod with the 1.9 stuff in it

If you ask me, Minecraft 1.7 was it's climax for greatness. With tons of mods, and not to mention still using the metadata system, it was great. 1.8 still wasn't that bad. Although they scrapped the metadatas, It still felt like Minecraft and added stuff that we could get used to. With most of the 1.7 mods updated to 1.8, 1.8 was basically just a better 1.7. Then 1.9 came, and a crap ton of bull crap combat stuff came in, which nobody asked for. I personally only play creative, so these don't affect me much. And thats another problem. 1.9 catered only to survival / server players, and so did 1.10 and 1.11.

Hold it, joining in 2014 meant you got 1.8 and nothing before, (possible 1.7.10) so you are used to minecraft being all these new features.

You haven't played like many of us without them. We all view the game in a different way.

It's like the new call of duty, based in the future, and to everyone that joined in the last one, all great. They see that as call of duty.

To others, they played since the start and had a different view, when the game was set in history. They don't like it because it's not what they are used to (and possibly see better).

2014 saw 1.7.5 - 1.8.1, and 1.8 came about in September - near the end of the year. It is entirely possible and even likely (and only avrona can say conclusively) that avrona saw 1.7x versions in their prime.

I should know, one of the most memorable servers I was on was 1.7x and in 2014.

avronaIt's just an update. Nothing you pay for, you just update for free, easily, in the launcher. Easy.

There's two key points that I'm driving at. Mods/Plugins and players that say "screw the update".

Mods and plugins, in many cases, add more than minecraft does in 3-5 updates - in some cases, such as with the Conquest Reforged mod, they update beyond what Mojang will ever make. What results, then, are servers far beyond Mojang content wise (Slimefun will be my example for plugins) and modded servers with more features than Mojang may ever give in "free stuff". By the way, many modders and plugin makers are doing these things for free, too.

For modders, an update means new content to integrate into the modded engine. More assets to create extra data and art for, and sometimes mechanics that must be changed. That's not easy. If an existing version does the job perfectly, why update the mod to a version that may be obsolete very soon, may not be completely popular or simply adds a couple things that don't matter or are /Already/ Included in the mod?

In the case of plugins, a similar issue pops up (sometimes worse when you have a server that splices 20, 30, 50, 100+ plugins together). Here you have servers with optimized content and mechanics, sometimes with far more features than meets the eye, and certainly more than you'll typically see on vanilla. An update typically means, for those servers, large chunks of code will become obsolete. Only a few plugins may break, or half+ of all plugins may simply stop functioning upon update. Consider that some developers may have the time and resources to quickly update everything (WorldEdit devs <3) and smaller devs or abandoned projects may update slowly or not at all, and not every owner (plainly) is capable of updating those plugins themselves. The question becomes (using 1.11x as an example): "Do I really need to break my server for llamas and a couple extra blocks I don't need?"

Mojang is not the only developer you should consider in topics of the community. While the above has zero relevance to you, consider the relevance to every plugin server and modded player. That's not a small number of people.

avrona
And you get lots of new fun content. How are there any problems with that,

And this is where part 2 comes in; the people who say "no" to the new updates because of the very contents you mention. Some don't care about updates that throw in a couple blocks and one mob - they don't consider it "lots of new fun content". That's not very awesome to some people. I can't really blame them; I consider content to be mechanical improvements and additions that allow for expansion, not a few more common blocks and mobs I don't give a damn about. While i prefer to stay updated and don't care about PVP, it's plainly an important distinction if the plugin-based minecraft multiplayer community is split between 1.8 and later versions.

I'll bounce to a statement made in a later post;
avronaYeah but they are mods. No mod is worth playing in such an old version, because they are only mods.

Play a mod before you call mods "only mods". This'll be a short section of my post, and I'll leave it at this: Do you think mods that add thousands of new items, contribute mechanics, and add many more mobs to be remotely comparable to a couple updates that have added, at most, a couple dozen blocks, shifted a few mechanics around and added a few mobs?

avronaespecially any worth 3 paragraph.

I used to put things much simpler, and I prefer it that way in all honesty. However, I find it's less effective to say short and simple statements that are easy to disagree with and take 3 pages to resolve when a couple well-aimed posts armed with content, examples and realities can settle things much quicker and leave less holes to generate new posts over.

If you think 3 paragraphs is bad, send me a PM about politics, religion or any variety of controversial topic, and I'll give you 30+ paragraphs ;p

You clearly haven't played minecraft 1.8 or older have you.... Im talking about the combat Cool down... Hardly anyone likes it, Before you say 'Oh you must suck at PVP' Or 'you have no skills' cause Frankly I don't care, Combat is broken, Not that im into PVP, But it makes the game feel slower then It has to be, Why do I want to spend more time hitting a mob? Seriously. Anyway, Minecraft arent just about having Wars with other players. It was about Surviving and building. Maybe added a Gamerule for it then it wouldnt be so bad, or not even change it to begin with... Either way 1.7.10 modded has alot more stuff then vanilla will ever have.

Just cause its free doesn't mean its good...

It is... You get more stuff for free. It's like getting a free sample at a supermarket, but instead of something tiny, you get a large array of awesome stuff from a developer that cares about you.

1.9 Broke minecraft for the worst.. And it hasn't gotten any better since.

What? How? It added so much awesome stuff, and 1.10 and 1.11 and 1.11.1 added even more super awesome stuff. You get so much great FREE stuff from a game dev who doesn't treat you like rubbish when they get your money. And if you can't appreciate all of the awesome, free, updates that make the game better and better then you don't deserve them.

Just thought i comment on this again
Again No offence to you:

"Just cause its free doesn't mean its good... "
"It is... You get more stuff for free"
So if i got a free computer, Its Way better then the one i payed $800 for?

"What? How? It added so much awesome stuff, and 1.10 and 1.11 and 1.11.1 added even more super awesome stuff."
All this and more in modding 1.7.10!

" You get so much great FREE stuff from a game dev who doesn't treat you like rubbish when they get your money."
When did he mention Devs and or Anything Free or money related?

" And if you can't appreciate all of the awesome, free, updates that make the game better and better then you don't deserve them."
He just said his opinion like i did a few moments ago, Not to mention, Doesnt every game have free updates, Like wouldn't you stop paying for updates if a game made you pay for them.

Again Please DO NOT take any offence im just pointing out a few errors you might want to condisering, also i think you should work respecting personally opinion of other people, as i have to you in a way.

Thank you

Lol, your just using the "Free updates" as a excuse as its good, Not all free things make it good. Minecrafts Combat system is now weird. 1.9 vanilla is not even very stable for most uses to begin with, Just because alot of people don't like the versions you do doesn't make them Selfish...
