This too.

ZaphodXI'm sorry I clearly offended you with my choice of words. However I still can't really believe a mob can spawn on a square that has a light level of 8 or above. Genuinely would love to see proof if you can show a mob spawning on a block lit above level 7.

And you obviously must not play survival much, ZaphodX.

No need to go all out, as long as you make yourself a nice little crevice with a ton of torches.

I would call that going all out, tons of torches and a little crevice is utterly unnecessary. I dont get why people think more torches is safer. Light does not stack. If a square is within 6 squares of a torch a mob cannot spawn, its that simple.

Well, then I must be utterly delusional because I never had this problem by doing what I suggested. If there's a lot of light, then no monsters. I've had a mob spawn on me when I was within 3-6 blocks of light, so you sir, are wrong. You can never have too many torches or glowstone. I don't get why people think they know everything and disregard someone elses experience. Why don't you learn from this experience and instead of constantly downing people to make yourself seem smarter, why don't you actually listen instead of talk. It's quite simple actually.

The thing we find best to do to when we have this problem is to have your bed on a second floor. It always works.

I don't think anyone except for DemonCrusher36 and me saw this. Double doors may look cool but it allows monsters to bypass them. If anyone doesn't believe me check the Minecraft Wiki, which I will have a link down there for the page. Here is some text from the wiki.
When trying to sleep in a bed at night, a monster may enter through the outside right hinged door and disturb the player. To prevent this, keep the right hinge door open, and you will be able to sleep.

Ya it appears the left part of the picture is a little dark. So that could be spawning mobs btu other than that they could be glitching the double doors and thats all i cant think of.

No when ever u have the mode above peaceful monsters will wake u up...its part of the game u r doing nothing wrong its normal for monsters to spawn by ur bed when ur asleep on modes above peaceful. U could make the whole room lit up but monsters will still wake u up... it doesnt happen all the time tho like sometimes u will fall to sleep for the whole night. So u r doing nothing wrong

No you are completely and utterly wrong. Stop spreading misinformation.
If its light enough mobs cannot spawn, mobs can only spawn at light level 7 and below.

You probably built on top of a Mob Spawn, Go down there and break the Mob Spawn.

I can see from the picture you don't have enough light, mobs can spawn 7 blocks away from a torch. I highly recommend zombe's mod, it has a portion that allows you to see anywhere a mob can possibly spawn. It shows a grid on the floor clearly indicating where you need to light up.
basically your place isn't lit up enough

I read that if there's a spawned nearby, they can spawn no matter how bright it is.

Don't have your bed in the open like that. Make a small crevice and light it up well.

This I disagree with. In fact, it's the best thing you can do, providing you have enough light.

Other than that, put it near the wall, a block away from the wall on every side. Otherwise, rebuild the walls, floor, and ceiling of your base out of obsidian (in case of creepers), go to bed wearing full diamond, 9 cooked porkchops in the hotbar, and a diamond sword, and you'll have a working mob trap!

Wait. You disagree or agree?

No need to go all out, as long as you make yourself a nice little crevice with a ton of torches.

Or else dig a hole in the ground and put the bed there. I've never had this problem, so idk what he's doing wrong. I guess I'm just too /pro/.

Try carving holes or a pyramid into your ceiling. Then put torches and it should stop those mobs.
