So, I recently played a few parkour map, and decided to make my own, and I also did some research about it. It was actually quite fun. Here are the things I think EVERYI MEAN EVERY parkour map should have.
1. A good spawn with rules and how to play the map
2. A good selection of levels. At least 3. Easy, Normal and hard are good choices
3. Making sure that it challenges the player. Add things like barrier, ice, and ladder parkour to make it way harder.
4. Good explanation of challenges. Often players don't mind how you do this, but as long as you have SOMETHING explaining your levels then you should be fine.
5. Use lots of command blocks. Who wants a map where you have to walk and see renamed villagers with nametags? Most people prefer a map where they can interact with the NPC's. Tellraw, Say and title are three good ways of player communication.
6. This one is a bit obvious, MAKE IT FUN . If you dont, who would want to play your map? Add texture packs (Maybe), MCedit also makes a better map if you know how to use it
7. Use appropriate mods. Now, I'm not saying you cant use the "CustomNPC's" mod, but dont use things like the "EvilMod" or any of those. Players might not find it obvious, and they might rage. Worldedit is a good mod to use while building your map.
I slipped in some things that aren't parkour map related, for example the villagers, but the rest is fine. Thanks for reading, and GIMME A DIAMOND
