When did you first discover minecraft?
Yeah when was the time you first discovered minecraft. And by discovering minecraft i mean actually getting into it not just hearing about it. For me, first time i got into it was in 2016.

In 2013, When I was in electronics class in Votech, one of my classmates brought a copy in on the PC. I won't lie it was a cracked copy. I'm watching him play it like it was the best thing in the world. I wasn't initially impressed. "It looks dumb", "it's all blocky". He gave me the thumb stick and said "Just try it. You never stop talking about your LEGOS's This is just like it." Sitting at home one night, the thumbstick sat on my dresser next to my PC. Just like that cursed book you know you shouldn't open. It would take over the kingdom with its dark magic. I decided "Ugh fine why not." It changed me forever. I spent most of my summer vacation building my dream house. With all this investment and my guilt for playing a cracked game that I really enjoyed, I bugged the heck out of my mom to buy the official version so that I wouldn't get in trouble. Told her all my friends have it and that the cracked copy could hack the network in the house. (It was single player copy and had nothing to do with the internet.) I got my buddy addicted to it about a year later.

I first discovered Minecraft when I saw my older brother play with his friend and the next day (maybe) i told him to install it on a old Samsung phone my mom had back then , made my first world , planted a tree , got attacked by a husk after spawning it in creative mode , freaked out , deleted it Immediately , and he got pissed
Still vividly remember that , great memories

I remember it vividly. It was some time around Feb 15, 2011. I was researching electromechanical relay computers built by hobbyists on youtube, in a effort to help my nephew with his science fair project for a simple 4 bit adder. Among the videos of folks building control logic and finite state machines with double-pole double-throw (DPDT) relays, I was recommended another video. It was a "16-bit ALU in Minecraft". Needless to say, everything got completely derailed, and there was no science project, and my nephew and I played a lot of Minecraft instead. Its been downhill ever since !! LOL !
p.s. I still want to build the "Science Fair" project but with redstone instead. One of these days...

xbox edition is the version that when i first joined felt nostalgic even though it was my first version. While it was a pain not being able to sprint and do alot of things i cannot deny how nostalgic it is.

Late September 2010 and I still have my first and second saved worlds (Amongst other beta worlds from back then), the 2nd saved world become my long-term world which I've constantly played and updated since starting it in October 2010.
2
I also have old worlds from Beta 1.2 which I saved as singleplayer worlds with the standalone client. Do you happen to have any worlds saved from the Classic 0.30 version which was played on the website: play.minecraft.net ? In Feb 2011, I played the free demo of Classic 0.30 first before buying the game. I dug through the browser cache folder and found the "level.mine" files, which are essentially the entire world from 0.30. These were then loaded by me years later into MCedit, and converted into McRegion files, which I could load into Beta 1.7.3. I was able to play the old website worlds again ! Obviously, the main differences would be in the lighting engine, and basic things such as grass spreading, and fluid mechanics, but otherwise, all of the blocks loaded just fine with no issues.
2
That's neat. still having those ancient worlds

I still remember when I was waiting to play Minecraft for the first time on 1.13 (exactly on the day of release). I still remember how I was constantly refreshing in excitement, only to be dissapointed again with 1.12.2. Then there was pandemic. I joined for the first time as MinecraftDungeoner, and made some crappy skins instead of fully participating in online lessons. When the computer broke, we got an Xbox, and I had this Microsoft account for about 5 years now. I joined again as MinecraftDungeonerBack (now Ender Sombra, I regained acccess and made it an alt), but also lost access. Then, the migration deadline came. I migrated 2 days before doomsday, and after 5 years, finally regained my glory and legacy. In celebration, I created 3rd (and current) account.
2
The fact that 1.13 dropped without me realizing is dope. I legit saw 1.14 and was like hol' up what happened to 1.13 did they just skip it. All in all the pandemic kind of served the minecraft playerbase.
