1
May have sand armor and gravel armor.
1
Naw man, water armor's where it's at.

Nether armor is a good idea, and so is redstone armor but the normal items wouldn't do for crafting and villager trades are really odd. So unless we get a new nether ore and some sort of modular ingot for redstone armor and a new nether ore like demonite.
1
Lapis: lapis is decoration. /endsentence
Redstone: i like the idea of it being able to activate redstone by touching it, but it shouldn't be a whole armor set. Maybe trigger boots?
Emerald: ...no
Quartz: sounds nice, but it's a bit op because quartz is so common in the nether. Maybe it should be made of blocks instead?

I disagree.
Lapis is suppose to be for decoration only, making it an armor is like making it food, just doesn't fit. Redstone armor is again, completely not minecraft. Emerald might be rarer than diamonds in the ground but you can trade with villagers and get a bunch of those. Also, the thing with diamond is that it is the hardest material out there, so it must be the strongest thing in minecraft. Nether quartz are again, not meant to be an armor just like redstone wasn't meant to be food.

i don't think so. it make no sense. as choas said:
ChaosExpertMay as well have Dirt Armor and Wood Armor.

Crafting reliable armor or tools from gemstones doesn't make sense. Even in the vanilla game, diamond items are a pretty far stretch of the imagination. At least gold armor is laughably weak in the interest of realism.
The only new armor set I would be open to is one made of materials obtained early on, like wood. Some kind of slatted or scaled armor would make sense and be useful for the many instances in which the player fails to spawn in an open field filled with cows or next to a quarry with surface iron.

Funny death scenarios with each suggested armour...
Redstone
Has you electrocuted...
Lapis
The blue stains your skin, and poisons you, and you die
Emerald
You look like a creeper, and someone kills you
Nether Quartz
It stabs you, and you bleed to death.
Yay, death is fun, but dead cat still sad

Thanks! I be funny, but don't try. Trying makes me fail. Meaning...
Everything my parents ever told me was a lie! I don't need to try hard, I just need to cruise along with Everything!

Nether star armor o_o

The only one I agree with is Quartz, but it should be only slightly stronger than leather.
1
Coal armor made with coal blocks
1
But the twist, the thorns hurt YOU!
Also, you get blood on you when the armour breaks
Dead kitty is sad.

i do not agree at all
1
Nope.

No.

Any of these would be boss!

Lapis: No. Then lapis lazuli would have a use other than decoration. Besides, if you want blue armor, dye some leather.
Redstone: No. Redstone contraptions would become dead. Nobody would learn to use it when you can turn it into armor and survive. Want red armor? Dye leather.
Emerald : No. Trading would become useless. Why trade 9 emeralds for a diamond helmet when you could trade 8 emeralds for something stronger? Want green armor? Green dye+leather armor.
Quartz: No. Quartz is too common. Fire resistant potion would become useless. Why would you try fighting magma cubes for a three minute effect, when you can go on a 10-minute mining spree and get the effect forever?

Thanks woody for some common sense.
1
No.
Having more armour isn't really the thing minecraft needs to focus on right now, plus, many mods have already made this, so just install one of them, plus, these armours would still be weaker than diamond (maybe not quartz) and everyone would just eventually get diamond armour.

If there was dirt armour, I would wear it all the time <3
1
ikr. Dirt armor ftw!
1
yep
1
Probably yeah

Lapis Armour. Yes, but it would be more like a decoration armour, worse than gold armour.
Emerald Armour. Pretty cool, I think it should be better than diamond, cause emerald, just are rarer than diamonds.
Redstone Armour. Would be cool. It could have a feature where you basically can activate a redstone circuit by standing beside it, or clicking it and it is temporarily activated.
Nether Quartz armour. Nice. Demonic. Fire Resistant?
