That when you first post your server on an advertizing thing (like when you google servers and it'll pop up) That you get like 20 people joining and immediately asking if you need admins.

well see i'm not planning on keeping that specific server up as is for long. I'm working on a Multiverse server, and seeing if i can do it the way I'm wanting to, i'll end up turning that server into something else or another type of server. idk yet.
but the thing is, I own a ttt server (gmod) and that was my first server. The way I do things is I don't add anyone to staff that I don't know / don't trust. I'm super involved

I get the exact same thing, to be honest if they want to be staff it's not hard to create your own server these days, and if they want to be staff on an active server, well, they have to earn it.
What I did is I added a timer before you can apply so atleast let us see your active and play a hour before joing
There's always the staff-hungry players who go straight for the kill as soon as they join a server; though, if the owner isn't young or too trusting, etc, usually their attempt is burnt down quickly.
PMC seems to work the fastest in getting players and actually does end up with 15 or more players on a server at one time, though once they leave, not as many come back (unless the server's really unique, etc).

it depends on what kind of server you have. Factions/Prison/Minigames are popular at the moment... If I see 'Old school survival with a twist' I wouldnt even look at it...
Okay, I see factions are so popular! That's why ALL factions server have over 1000+ players, isn't it? Oh and I am sorry you were born last year and don't know what is minecraft based on, not killing and stealing from others.

If you see a player asking to be a staff do what I do, either tell them to leave if they are gonna pretend they are from PMC OR just take some time, watch how they behave and than decide what to do next. My current mod on my server was playing on server for 2 months and was helpful to all players needing help so yeah, he was trusted and I ranked him and I see I didn't make a mistake.

This will go on for ever and whoa 20 whole PEOPLE? When I bump server all I get is 1-3 join, spin around, leave type of players.
Well when i first opened it up and advertized, we had like at LEAST 30 different users cycling within 3 hours? It was nuts. People were trying to force op somehow, etc etc
They hope the owner is a 8 year old.
