HOW?!?!?
Whenever I try to switch versions so I can download Forge mods, it keeps giving me the same message: “Crash Code: 1”
and I don’t know how to fix it :(

Switch you mean console?
Are your drivers up to date or do you have outdated mods, try reinstalling both drivers and mods if that might help.
Oh, and if you’re wondering, I’m on Java
The first issue I would check is whether you can successfully play the various versions as straight vanilla which would at least help isolate the problem[s]
