Is A Stack Mod Still Possible?

I've noticed the stack mods that give you the ability to increase block and item stack size limits from 64 or less up to 999 or more not updating for long periods of time if at all.
Has increasing the stack sizes for blocks and items become more difficult with the new updates over the last year or 2 or something?
I'd really love to play 1.21.x with increased stack sizes so I can explore more but I can't play with such limited storage space and small stack sizes that vanilla provides.
Sure there's a stackable mod for 1.21.x now on modrinth but it only increases stack sizes up to 127.
Would somebody who creates mods please elaborate or carry on the torch into new versions of Minecraft if it's still possible?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback as I would love to experience what new versions of Minecraft has to offer without wasting my time.
