Simple Mod Ideas?
I am a novice modder. So I don't know much coding yet. If you would like a simple mod done like new recipes for existing items I would be delighted to do it so I can get some coding practice. So please just post simple mod ideas in the comments and I will work on them.

Well, in the Bukkit Plugin Mcmmo, with a certain skill level in Herbalism, you can place cobblestone and use seeds on the block; this turns the block into mossy cobblestone. Somewhat of the same thing that you're looking for. I don't know whether you're just looking for a single-player mod, or if this would work for you.
Craftable MossyCobble which is cobblestone with seeds on top.

I could help, coding wise etc., as I am pretty experienced with java, especially working with minecraft.
Also, I could help with bugs, and I'm only saying this as in to help you get somewhat experienced with making mods for minecraft.
