Hi gang!
Finally... the heatwave in the Netherlands seems to have ended (don't you dare Murphy!) and I'm pretty much back to normal energic / health wise. Which also means... that I'm visiting my/our modded Minecraft server more often (I host the critter, but my friend Aya has just as much a say about it as me).
Anyway... at the time of writing I can't wait for Aya to come online (!) because, well, I "did something"... 😁 We've been discussing the Serene Seasons mod quite a bit as of late, it's a bit of a love/hate for us so to speak. On one hand we really enjoy the weather variety and also how you should keep track of the season(s) in order to get the most out of growing your crops. But on the other end it can also become annoying when you travel during the winter because you're basically covering a large part of the map in snow, and that won't easily go away when those chunks are no longer loaded; this also affects the maps.
SO after having discovered "another mod" I decided that we should just go for it: remove 'serene' and instead, well.... I'm going to spoiler this just in case Aya happens to stumble across my post before she comes online (she doesn't frequent PMC often but does have an account here...) =>
It's even better with friends I think, especially if you can agree to disagree on some things. For example... there are a few mods on our server which I don't fully care for but Aya loves them (Touhou little maid for example), and vice vers; Aya doesn't care too much for the Spore mod which I love to play. But that's where a little tweaking and adjusting can go a long way (I made sure to limit the Spore spawns to specific biomes, and you also don't automatically get a maid on our server: you need to summon one at the shrine).
At the time of writing Aya & me have been building this collection for approx. 3 - 4 years and we're at a point where we deem(ed) the whole thing complete. I wouldn't be surprised if this really is going to be the last change (can't go wrong with 123 mods ;)). Still on 1.20.1, still having a lot of fun.

So, I found the perfect replacement... we're now playing with the amazing Species mod in combination with Hourglass...
The first mod adds some totally bizarre and weird mobs to your world, which can also be quite lethal. For example a nasty "thing" lurking in the deep waters of the swamps: ready to pull you down to drown & eat you. Or what to think about walking trees? Or birds that only get active during the night?
The second mod makes sleeping more "realistic" by actually making time pass. So don't expect to keep all your potion effects after your slept. The weather will also pass during your sleep, you can even get hungry! And in addition the nights on our server also take a little longer... we're playing in a 'cursed' world afterall ;)

The best modpack? Why not collect your own?
Here's the thing... if you use a launcher like Prism then it becomes quite easy to add, enable/disable and even remove mods. Best of all... if you enjoy casual Minecraft then simply adding something extra doesn't even have to change all that much; you basically get something "extra" to do besides the vanilla gameplay. And you can always (slowly?) build up as you go along.It's even better with friends I think, especially if you can agree to disagree on some things.
