Can't create multiplayer server! HELP!

Hey guess!
Me and my friend has just bought the game a couple of hours ago, though we have played it only before. We have tried to create our own multiplayer server, but we ran into some trouble during that proces.
Neither him or I can create og join ANY servers, at all. If any of us tries to join a server, it simply says: "Connection timed out". When any of us tries to create a server, we can create the server just well, but none of use can actually join the server and play the game... We have tried to use Hamachi and several tutorial at Youtube and Google, but not for any help at all. What could the problem be? We have tried to use Portforward.com, without any bkind of help.
