All mobs smell you from far, along with skeletons and creepers shooting from far..
The best survival strategy would be to dig extremely far underground at bedrock, with obsidian surrounding you, without the obsidian, you'd be toast, but the real best way to survive is having a sky base as far up as possible.
Here at Craze-Solution, we are trying to make it as realistic as possible. Mobs are the most dangerous thing you should fear besides other players, which obviously means we allow raiding and griefing. We have a pretty big world, which means we don't have a small border, our border is 25000x25000y. Why? So players actually have a chance to build in the sky, because if it was short, everyone would see eachothers bases, and the underground bases would be exploded within the first minute by creepers.
We have a plugin so it's a bit more difficult to survive in a desert or snow, if you're in the desert, you'll need to wear a helmet, or if you're in the coldness (snow biome) you'll need to wear armor to not die of coldness..
We also have a plugin so you can only talk to people that are within 20 blocks of you.
Don't worry about hackers, most of our plugins are anti-hacking plugins, such as FoundDiamonds, Orebfuscator, Anti-Cheat, NoCheat, NoCheatPlus, etc.
