Hello all. In this guide i'll show you what plugins are usually needed in a minecraft server!

Is your server large?
I own a Minecraft server, and when I noticed I was being greifed, I took action, and my server grew within a coupla' days.

How many people?
This is not the same as the above (Is your server larged), this can deal with if you need to purchase a MySQL database, or what plugins would be best!

I would say the following plugins should be in MOST Miencraft servers. There is also a descriptions for the plugins.

Plugins:

1) WorldEdit, WorldGuard, and CommandBook
-These 3 plugins are all created by a team of developer's. The SK's. WorldEdit allows you to fill in area's with block's using the chat line, an generate structure's with the command line. WorldGuard, allow's OP's, and Permissions Allowed (See Permission plugin) to "claim" region's so lower ranks/non-OP's cannot build in. CommandBook is a plugin that gives a bunch of little useful commands. Although not as many as Essentials (Not a bad thing), you can get the basic feature's with it. Spawn, Warp, Teleporting. etc.

2)Permissions Exporting
- There are many Permissions plugins, I'd choose one of the following:
a)PermissionsEx
-A standard permission plugin WITH colored chat
b) GroupManager
-Accessible with McMyAdmin, but does require mChat for color's.
c) Permissions Bukkit
-Just another simple Permissions plugin
-Out of those three, I currently use GroupManager+mChat for it's unique accessibility and easy use. I had at one point used PermissionsEx, but if 1 error occur's, your permissions file is deleted.

3)NoCheat
-A simple plugin to prevent all types of cheating (DOES NOT PREVENT X-Ray's)

4)X-ray's (lol?)
-PREVENTS the use of x-ray mods, and x-ray texturepacks.

5) Factions
-I do not use this, but many server's like it. This plugins allows user's to create groups/clans/teams and claim land and created base's, they can also fight other players if their clan is set to PVP on.

These are just very SIMPLE plugins that i'd use. (Except for Factions) Hope this helped guy's, it's nice helping you. Bye!
