Minecraft Server issues! HELP
So, I installed the server hosting software form minecraft.net . port forwarded, I gave out my computer IP to my friends, they said they couldn't connect!
My Steps.
Is there anything I missed? I port forward garry's mod and people could connect, so my internet isn't on fire. My IP address is Dynamic. (tell me how to make it static IP if that's the problem. Fell free to send me links to videos.) I have a Verison d-link router.

Went to the router website to port forward.
Port forwarded port 25565 under both protocols.
Accepted EULA.
Messed with the server properties, LEFT THE IP FIELD BLANK.
Ran it.
Gave out my IP
No one could connect

Are you giving out your internal IP or external IP?

Im giving out my external IP, I tried connecting though it and i did connect.
