Need help adding plugins to a crack pack server

So I've made a crack pack server and right now it's running fine port forwarded and everything but, I don't know how to add plugins. I've tried using cauldron but my server wont start when I use it. I've looked at countless posts and tried what worked for other people but none of that stuff worked for me. What am I doing wrong?
