NEED HELP WITH 1.7.10 MINECRAFT SERVER

I recently started a new 1.7.10 minecraft server and I'm having some issues.

First off let me tell you that I have owned a minecraft server before, but I was running bukkit.

Due to bukkit and spigot being taken down for legal purposes, I've had to switch the server to canary.

I have absolutely no clue how to use the new client, or how to set it up.

If you can help me in any way possible, I'd love to hear from you.

My world has 3 backups.

I also have backups of all my plugin configs. (even though I haven't tweaked any of them.)

It's a new server, I haven't built anything, so it would be useless to try to grief it.
