It's not the number of slots. It's about how many chunks are kept in memory, which is how many players are online and how close together they are (far apart is worse performance). Also does cloudcraft know how to stop a DoS attack or BOTNet attack, and will they do it quickly? There's way more to servers than monthly cost and ram, but I guess I didn't know that either when I was starting out a year ago.

You're both doing it wrong. Step 1 is pay for a server. If you won't do that for yourself, you can't run a reasonably good Minecraft server. A good server costs 15 dollars per month for 20 player slots. I recommend BeastNode.com

If you ever do get this off the ground, you absolutely must have one plugin called "Grief Prevention". You can download it from bukkit dev. Good luck!

Hey, I am looking to also start up a server and can legit do everything........Permissions, plugins, etc....Most people think u open a server, get essentials plugin and your done. But ur not. All I need is someone to pay for the server and I could make it...If you would be willing to pay 8 bucks for a 50 slot server we could make a kick butt faction server and then you could get donations to pay back your 8 dollars and we could split the rest
