Schematic woes

Okay, so I'm admin on my friends server.
I was away for a while, and built some stuff on single player, I know how to world edit, and save on my clipboard - that's easy!
But how would i be able to save the schematic from single player onto my friends multiplayer.
Basically, I built this awesome boat, not too big, but still a bit too complex to do again!
I have singleplayer commands, so I have the file saved in the schematic folder.
When I try load the file in my multiplayer world, it says NULL.
So i know it isn't working..
WHUT DO?
EDIT: I have looked online and it says to save the schematic file in my server folder.
But isn't that if you own the server?
