Server Advertising?

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask what the best way to advertise your server is. I know there is Planet Minecraft of course, but what also helps? I have been told I should use Votifyer to get votes on my server too, but what sites use votifyer?

And how am I expected to compete with the thousands of other servers that are near identical to mine?

(My server is a PVP, Survival, Grief, Teams, *NO FACTIONS*, trading server)
