My server is running off of donations (or will be soon), I need a way of getting more people on to the server and more donating. Does anyone have any tips?

Are you a dedicated owner paying attention to your player base? Do you have things in the Donation Shop people actually want?
I've found most of the time players are actually donating to support the server, it's a perk that they get something in return like a way of saying thank you for the support. If you just want money then fill your Donation Shop with things that give the donors an unfair advantage. If you care about your entire community though, give donors perks that make life a little easier, but don't make them gods compared to everyone else.
