I am looking into starting up a Minecraft server. However I am unsure of what route I want to take. I like the idea of a whitelisted server where a strong small community can be formed. I am aiming towards a 20+ age player base. Anyone have any ideas ? Or interested ?

Interesting ideas, Space. Usually what I'd recommend is finding a group of people with a common interest, and launching a server after figuring out what all of y'all truly want.
In my case, I wanted a friendly survival server, and ended up adding GriefPrevention, and other things that which I find fun. You making a server is essentially you creating a community.
One thing to remember
If you don't find it fun, why would any of your players? That's a key factor.
