Mob Skin Contest
In the blocky world of Planet Minecraft, everything has gone out of whack. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions have wiped the face of steve off the continent and have caused mutations to mobs that no one has ever seen before. Now it is your turn to depict one of the crazy creatures.
Your Challenge
Your challenge is to create a Minecraft mob skin/texture. What we mean by this, is that you can create any Minecraft mob texture from the minecraft.jar, except for the ones listed below.
- Ender Dragon (too big)
- Wither (too big)
- Ghast (too big and similar to Squid)
- Silverfish (too small)
- Bat (too small)
- Slime (transparency = no)
- Steve (steve was killed in the eruptions and earthquakes, duh)
- Zombie (basically the same as steve)
- Undead and Skeleton Horse (unused in Minecraft)
- Endermite (too small)

69. Obey SpeedyCube
1. Completely replace the entire mob texture
2. Don't steal skins
3. Follow the skin guidelines in the site rules
4. Complete the skin and post it to this thread by May 28th, 2014
5. Create skins for mobs added BEFORE April 28th, 2014 (any upcoming snapshot mobs = no)
6. Don't use skins from existing texture packs
7. Stick to the default resolution.

Tutorialthing
If you aren't sure, we are nice enough to provide you instructions on how to make a mob skin and upload it.
1. Go to here
2. Choose a mob
3. Go to your .minecraft folder
4. Open versions
5. Open the latest version
6. Open the (version).jar with winrar
7. Open assets, then minecraft, textures, and entity
8. There are your textures. Some will be in folders, be careful to only choose your mob.
9. Edit with your favorite skin editor
10. Upload to an image site
11. Post the link to the image on this thread
12. Done!
13. We'd also love it if you submitted with an ingame screenshot, but it is not necessary.

Making a resource pack doesn't necessarily mean that you can't make skins, though. Not unless you are really committed to the resource pack and you spend all of the little spare time that you have working on it.

Yeah, I'll continue to make skins when I feel like it, even though I am making a texture pack. I wasn't planning on making a skin for this contest, though.

If you'd read the post you'd know that you edit the texture of an existing mob. Just be sure to replace the ENTIRE texture.

Sorry for double post, but is tranceparency allowed? Unlike player skins, mobs can have parts of the texture tranceparent. You can make them completely invlisible if you wanted to.

Contest looks good guys, I was just suggesting that pmc should host a mob skin contest. It will be interesting to see what mob skins people come up with. I would have maybe narrowed it down to only one mob type, all these different mobs might be hard to judge. But I guess it will make all the entries more diverse.

Hmm, are HD textures allowed? Or do you have to stick to the regular resolution? Regardless, I'm entering.

Oh, I was going to make this more clear but forgot. Stick to the normal resolution, this way there is no illusion of better quality just because the resolution is increased.
