An unstoppable force meets an unmovable object. What happens next?
An unstoppable force, as in, an object that can never stop moving ever, meets an object that is impossible to move. What happens next? Post your ideas.
The unstoppable force can only move in one direction, just to clear that up.
I’m going to start posing thought experiments like this more often if you want me to lol

There is a very, VERY big explosion that destroys both objects.
But an explosion would mean the unmovable object fragments, and those fragments then move, which is impossible. So, the unmovable object would remain.
it would also imply that the explosion would stop the unstoppable force
As long as the fragments continue moving, it should be fine
i guess it depends in which way the force is unstoppable
I guess so, the unstoppable force only moves in one direction at a constant speed, so I guess the explosion wouldn’t effect the unstoppable force either
snap it out of existence, wait for the unstoppable force to move, then snap it back into existence.
or just teleport the unstoppable force past the unmovable object.
or just teleport the unstoppable force past the unmovable object.
They take a minute to chat and get each other a drink.
After talking, they both decide it would be best to go around one another to avoid conflict.

they pass through eachother
When the unstoppable would hit the unmovable force it would be forced to angle upward or sideways and continue that way.
The unstoppable force in this scenario only moves one direction.
the unstoppabble force goes threw the unmovable bject
the unstopable goes around unmovable
The unstoppable force can only move in one direction.
Now thats.an idea
unstobable become stopable and unmoveable become moveable
That’s not how it works.
um big explosion physiscs destroyed lol
That would involve moving the unmovable and causing the unstoppable force to move in a different direction, both of those being impossible. An explosion of any magnitude won’t affect either object.
hmmm lets just say they both would disapear
But that would mean the unstoppable force stopped moving.
hmm they would disapear. how do you know they'll stop moving? maybe they'll still moving but they will not?
Show me a moving thing that doesn’t exist.
Not everything that you don't see is not existing
Simple, the force would go through the object, therefore it's still moving. The object stays where it is, therefore not moving.
thats what I said
i just noticed that
The force just ends up turning and that object it still there
But the object only moves in one direction unstoppably
So lets say the unmovable object is a gas giant that never listens to anyone and the unstoppable object is light, because light is considered matter and an object, moving at a constant speed, and it causes the gas giant to glow a tiny bit at the edges, but the light passes through the clouds, as they are not that thick, because it is of similar clouds and wind speeds to that of neptune, and the unmovable object stays unmoved, and the unstoppable one is still going strong.
Light isn’t considered matter.
I did forget that but its still a particle and considered a physical thing
which means it still counts
which means it still counts
I guess so
So am i right? :0
Yes
well it’s a paradox with no true right answer, since neither an unstoppable force or unmovable object exist in reality, so you’re as right as you can be

IT'S BIG BRAIN TIME!!! so unstopable ids still moving and unmoveable is still not moving. How? Unstopable is still moving but it don't make progress.
That’s just not moving.
You can like move standing I guess
the force keeps bouncing off because then its still moving
It only moves in one direction
ill edit the description to clarify that

The unstoppable force simply changes direction. Ever poured running water on a solid surface?
said this to everyone, sorry I forgot to put it in the description, I'll put it there now
the unstoppable force only moves in one direction.
the unstoppable force only moves in one direction.
It passes through then. After all, 90% of any space is nothingness and although it would be unstable it could technically pass through.
Just because it's unmovable doesn't mean it's unbreakable.
Yes it does. In order for the unmovable object to break, it would have to fragment, and those fragments would then have to move apart from each other. Which is impossible, since it’s unmovable.
But they could be immediately destroyed without being moved
The world breaks and ceases to function and everything blows up and dies, the end. c:
These objects disapear. And don't tell me that when you disapear you don't move. You can't move and you can't not move becouse you aren't... You don't exist.
You are right brother :) actually this question is so simple... Who said that unstoppable force can't destroy unmovable object? And this is obvious for our big brains that when you don't exist you don't move and you also DON'T don't move. When you don't exist you are in point 0. And don't moving is for example point 1 and moving is for example point -1.
The unmovable object can’t be destroyed. For that to happen, it would have to break, and those remains would then have to move. If the fragments don’t move, it’s still one, unbroken object.
