Hi Guys,
Would it be possible to change your captcha, its starting to really get on my nerves how difficult it is? Often step #2 has so many different lines you cant work out if its part of the captcha or not. Coupled with the fact theres so many triangles you lose your start point. Similarly, theres way to many squares appearing on the step #1.

Any chance you could lower the maximum amounts of these? That would be a good starting point.

I am finding it increasingly frustrating having to recount the triangles which seems to get hard after every failed attempt! Having to count to 20 on both captcha's is also adding the frustration. Tbh, i wouldnt mind answering another question if it meant all 3 questions were simpler.

Dont get me wrong i appreciate the need for captcha's but atm it seems theyre probably easier for a robot than they are a human.

Thanks,
Piercy

just wanna say thank you. I'm not sure when you did it but the new captchas are lovely.

Thanks PMC!

Some of the captchas on PMC are a bit too easy. Some are as hard as forklifts.

The current capchas are doable and I'd wager that most people can complete them fairly easily. I understand why Planet Minecraft chose a stronger capcha, since this site has always has a problem with bots and is still trying to find new ways to prevent them, as they continue to evolve.

I vastly prefer these capchas to some of the text capchas, though. Some of those are near impossible. One a similar note, has anyone seen those cool picture capchas, the ones where it asks you to click the picture of a few random items it generates?

yes those are made by this company: http://confidenttechnologies.com/produc ... nt-captcha

Ive also seen ones where theres a small picture in the top right and you have to drag the puzzle pieces to make the picture. I think both of these would be great and are pretty hard for robots to solve. I actually wonder if the current PMC ones are easier to solve by bots than humans some of the time lol

I don't see why they can't use the screwed up words as one. I've always resented this one, and it discourages my members from voting....

I find the squares and triangles easier than normal captchas.

Here you go:

If you are not doing a java application then the second link won't be too useful for you. When I implemented reCaptcha it was for a java application.

its really simple actually with the squares just go from one side to the other and squares that intertwine to make another square inside of it dont count and triangles if u cant remember where u srted just put your finger on the one u started at XD

Oh, I've never had an odd numbered triangle one, sorry. Must be pretty rare.

For the triangles, cut the shape in half. Pick a center line, count until you reach the line again. If that made an sense. Basically you only need to count half of them then double. You are much less likely to lose track if you count 5 (as in the examples above) rather than 10.

Make sense?

but the answer can be an odd number. They arent symetrical. I understand its a minor problem but also, captcha are quite easy to implement (im a web developer myself). I know its a niggle and not necessarily a priority but i feel if it frustrates me enough it must frustrate others as well, hense me asking

guess its petty but heh

I find the squares easy, its those damn triangles and the background on it that messes me up sometimes.

coming from a web developer background this method is a sure way to stop spam and voting bots and works 99.99% of the time.

there are ones out there that are just as good and simpler to use but yeah maybe a change would be good but then again there are crappy word ones and then Q and A ones out there

I agree, it's not correct all the times, due to auto generated fails
Most voting sites uses http://confidenttechnologies.com/signup
It's way easier
Or just use reCAPTHA a lot of people uses that.

It's actually quite easy. For the squares work your way from the left the the right. The the triangles work your way clockwise starting with the one one right to the up one.
