I have a friend and he is terrible at PvP but since he plays Skyblock a lot on servers, he needs to be able to fight back when he gets attacked. Can someone help me find a way to teach him how to fight?

There's nothing you can do to 'teach' him just let him practice on something like micro-battles in mineplex or some other 1.9 kit pvp server if you're looking for 1.9.

1.8 combat: sprint forward rapidly click the attack key. Dodge left and right, never stop clicking, keep your cursor on the target. Crit hits are crucial.
1.9 combat: sprint, jump, swing sword, dodge back, flank, swing sword, repeat.
