Hey btw do diamonds and favourites really affect chances of winning? Because if they do then whyy! Say someone has an awesome story but 0 diamonds, then soemone a worse story but 20 diamonds.... :s :c
1
Diamonds determine which entries continue as finalists with contests that have 50+ entries. The amount of diamonds that an entry receives from members or contest judges (which carry more weight) and activity is what decides which entries become finalists.
In saying this, the community decides which entries they enjoyed over others but contest judges can give entries they believe are of higher quality better chances of becoming finalists, that is why contest judges diamonds are mostly "reserved" and limited.

OK, I have a story of a little over a thousand words. I have checked the box for the contest, and used deepbelow in the tags. I have formatted it so that the different aspects of the story can be better understood. I am posting this as a blog entry/story. First time doing this sort of thing, so is there anything else I need to know? Also I assume no editing is allowed once submitted, or is it editable to the deadline?
2
As long as your story is 400 words or more and doesn't exceed 2500 words, your word count is fine. You may edit your blog as many times as you like until the entry period is over.

"As long as your story is 400 words or more and does exceed 2500 words" xD
2
Thanks for noticing
1
will your story be eliminated if it is not between 400 and 2500 words?
1
Your entry will be disqualified if it does meet contest requirements and the minimum/maximum word count is one of the requirements for the contest.
1
because I wrote a short poem
1
Yes, it would be disqualified for not reaching the minimum word requirement.
1
Do you get extra marks for bold/italics/colour on words?
Also, I am British, so some words may be spelt differently. Is this an issue?

2
As long as the meanings of the words can be understood within the context of the story, that shouldn't be much of a problem
2
In the judging period, entries are judged on three different aspects, one of the them being presentation. Feel free to get creative with fonts and colours but if you are to use bright or bold colours, please consider including a plain text version.
1
Is there a limit on how long it can be?
1
Yes, the story must be between 400 and 2500 words.
1
can my images be a little be gruesome?
1
You may use images that are not overly confronting/ unsettling or excessively grotesque or gory.
2
Contest description has been amended to better explain contest theme and task.
2
I just read through the contest details and was wondering if the font and size of your entry matter?
3
Whatever font and text size you use is completely up to you. Be as creative as your like as long as you follow the rules and requirements.

Im soo entering! I've been waiting for a another blog contest since November!!!
2
That's... partially my fault. I wanted to start one at beginning of June, but I forgot and by time I remembered, I was gone for 3 weeks and the Internet was pretty poor... You get the picture. Thankfully Cib is better at remembering and organizing things than I am. :)
3
Are we allowed to base our story off real-life history and mythology or are we required to write fiction-only?
3
The story must be of the underwater ruins found in Minecraft. So in saying that, it would be fiction only.
2
I'm pretty sure you can do either.
2
Darth, I think it would be best to just let Cib give out the official answers, because he's the one who knows for sure about all of the information. I think it would save a lot of confusion IMO, but that's only my suggestion.
2
do have to involve players or water
2
Your story does not have to make reference to or include names or suggestions of any feature of Minecraft but the story must be about the history behind the underwater ruins found in Minecraft.
As confirmed below, your entry must explain how the underwater ruins in
Minecraft came to be. You're not required to make reference to any of
the games features as long as it tells the story of the events that left
only the underwater ruins at the bottom of the ocean.
2
ok thanks for the help

I have a question; if you're writing a fresh new blog post/story for the contest, are you allowed to post the unfinished version to 'save' your progress? Or do you have to keep it open, or make it something where you can save progress?
5
In the edit blog submission page, there's a box labeled "Publish Live" at the very top of the page. To save a draft of the submission, untick the box and click save.
By doing this, it means that only yourself and site moderators can see it.
Once you're ready to publish and enter your blog, tick the Publish Live and of course the contest entry box as well.

Um, I have a question. Does this have to relate to Minecraft (For example, referencing the overworld, players blocks, etc.), or can it just be a story about how some ruins came to be?

Hope this clears things up.

Yes, it does. Thank you!
