Default Forum Homepage Poll

We're planning to make several changes to the forums including restructuring the categories, having side navigation open/close without page refresh, clearer UI for subbing/unsubbing to categories and were considering other ideas that are floating around.
This poll is only about one important thing:
Would you prefer the homepage of the forums to be what is is now, a feed, or to be the table of contents?
Neither view would go away, it's just about which one should be the default.

I voted for table of Contents, then I saw it already was changed to be table of contents!

Couldn't help but make the switch before the weekend. Results were already a landslide 57 for Table of Contents vs 14 for feed to be the default. I can see behind the scenes when curious. :P
I also made a pile of other tweaks to forums. Some you'll notice, others are subtle.

- Added "Oldest" order option to thread replies (read oldest to newest) Time Travel +0_o
- Default forum TOC page on all primary forum references (main nav, redirects, breadcrumbs, etc) Grounded +50

With minecraftforums going away now's a good time to restructure. No doubt you'll get more traffic from people converting to over here. I definitely like Table of Contents.

Yep! Ralex is actually working on a proposal for a revised forum category structure here. He has been a long time moderator here AND on the minecraftforums. I imagine his proposal is going to be on point.
We are planning to reorganize existing forums and add all new main & sub categories to better support everyone from sharing creativity, help & support and of course entertainment purposes.

That's great! I was quite active on minecraftforums. I'll probably bring that activity to these forums now. I was especially active in the seed showcase area. Hope more people will come over and find a good home hear in place of those forums! :)

While we were discussing the new structure, a Seeds forum was brought up. We'll be adding!

Voted my preference, but would like to see this as a user definable option in the user profile. [In which case, the default setting might be to a FAQ as anyone new would find that most useful. (One of tha Qs in the FAQ would – of course – explain how to set one's default entry point. ;) ) ]

Table of contents for sure. This makes it much more intuitive, especially for new users (which we are getting a lot more of after MCF's closure), because this is probably the most common across all internet forums.

Glad this is being considered. Table of contents is far more useful as a default landing page for the forum in my opinion. People can pick and choose which section they are interested in exploring.

Like I mentioned before, I think that going straight to the table of contents feels a bit more intuitive. The feed is still much more useful for seeing recently made threads though, so that page still would be used. You wouldn't have to click on Forums -> Index to go the ToC anymore, but you'll still be able to choose to see the latest feed if you want to. 👍
