I want to change my profile picture to something different than my skin, it says the file size is to big! it doesn't seem big!?

Go on google images and just look for a picture that is 100x100 pixels
The avatar picture has to be 100x100 pixels.
check how big the picture resolution is. if not then it may be something else.
