Adobe has made all of their CS2 suite available for free. I have Photoshop. Premiere is the last one at the bottom, and that's the movie editor.

So you already know about the bundled apps with both Mac and Windows but there are other options.
Two great open source options that are available for MAc, Windows and Linux are:

Most computers have one pre-installed.
If mac = iMovie
If windows = Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM)
If mac = iMovie

Forget the previous guy. Use either your internal video editor (iMovie or WMM) or a more professional program such as Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier Pro.
If iMovie is available to you, it's really good. If not, I've heard of Windows Movie Maker and I think it's free.
