u fokin wot m8? Codecademy offers JavaScript, not Java. Java is to JavaScript as car is to carpet. Two totally different but similarly named things.

There's a website that has programming courses, one of them teaches Minecraft modding. So that it doesn't get too confusing, it gives you templates and lets you change things so that it fits your personal taste, all the while learning to mod Minecraft. It's hard to explain, but you could look more into it on youthdigital.com

P.S. It's pretty darn expensive, so unless your willing to fork out some cash, I'd stick to making some Minecraft skins.

I said it was expensive, but it gives you templates for code and lets you try out a W.I.P. mod without having to export it and install it into normal Minecraft. The course teaches you how to add tools, weapons, armor, blocks, biomes, mobs, items, food, and a lot more.

It is possible to get it for a discount at some events (I don't know what kind) for about 125 bucks.

If you're not dying to learn modding that you'd spend over 200 bucks, I'd just watch videos on YouTube or something. Or ... BEST OPTION:

Find a good programmer that's willing to teach you how to code the mod.

Thanks man but i already tried it out i don't like it

If you didn't like that, you won't enjoy coding in general.
There's plenty of SOA mods already, just use one of them instead of pushing original, legit submissions down.

I say try a bit of java first, and it doesn't have to be much, just enough to where you can see the basics like how parentheses work and how to make a .class file. Then look up the Synasonic's forge modeling tutorials and follow them. He also has an MC forum post about it so you can copy and paste code but you have to watch the youtube with it.

Java is not one of the first languages I would recommend learning if you want to program. It is very object oriented which means requires abstract thinking on the level that an amateur or hobby programmer just won't be able to comprehend in order to get a minecraft plugin done in a reasonable time.
I learned Java as an elective in college for computer science. It really helps to have a firm grasp of coding before attempting the language.

"Hobby Programmers just won't be able to comprehend". I know plenty of "Hobby Programmers" who have pumped out much more than a Minecraft in small amounts of time. Java isn't difficult, it just requires practice. OOP doesn't exactly require abstract thinking (It's like making a zombie class with health, damage and walkspeed variables then creating an instance of it, which is a "clone" created based on the original class...). It's not rocket science, just practice

I'm not even in college yet and I've got a fairly large grasp of Java and C#, and can create games, Minecraft mods and plugins. To suggest amateurs and hobby programmers can't comprehend Java is stupid

Don't even think about creating mods until you know java itself. I would suggest doing basic java tutorials, and start moving on. Once you actually understand what everything does, then move onto creating mods, if you go right into modding, you'll be confused by everything.

If you just want a mod that adds swords, you could always just use a mod creating software.
BUT you won't be allowed to post it to the site. You can use it yourself, and give it to a few friends too, though.

First learn how to code, don't follow a tutorial on how to make a plugin/mod for Minecraft, learn the basics of Java first.

This is what I used to learn Java: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/

And this for plugins: http://wiki.bukkit.org/Plugin_Tutorial

Other than that, a lot of googling.
