How to make a program respond without closing it???

my video editing program is such a troll... the video just got uploaded and it sped itself up and removed the volume. WAT.

ok guys, so i just shut it down and checked the file all of my videos go to, and it was there!!! so it's ok. i'm sooo glad! KTXBAI!!

I should add that if it just says something like "program not responding" then you could wait awhile, but if it just says "program won't respond, close program", then you are out of choices

Yes, Waiting for it to respond eventually or sometimes trying to minimize it and then end task on something else that is using memory and not needed could kick it back to normal. Another way could be minimizing it then ending task on unneeded stuff then right click the icon on taskbar and choose restore. Along with a wait.

Some updates to your computer could be performed which would reduce the issue.
Which operating system and which video editor ?

Just wait a minute, and see if it responds. If it don't, I am sorry to say this, but unfortanely you will lose your work if it crashes. Remember to save often, and do backups in the future. I don't know how good your processor is or how much RAM you have, but don't use too much multitasking when making important projects.

Or, you could always smash your computer with a hammer...

Well, I would wait, because it usually works for me, buuuuut...that's the only possible way that I know of..

I don't think there is a way. If you are lucky enough, you can close it and reopen it, and it MIGHT have done a save so you don't loose anything. I get it all the time in flash.
