You are all also forgetting that just posting things gives you 5 or 10 experience.
That's not necessarily true. If it's a good skin and gets about 50-100 diamonds, you can get a large chunk of experience points.

Skins: Quick XP, Not much though

^That's exactly why I'm a level 1
I wish forum posts were worth some XP
Would be too easy with forum spammers or either every 50 posts = 5 exp or so.
I wish forum posts were worth some XP...
Skins: Quick XP, Not much though
Blogs: Depends on the subject, however can get you a lot of praise from fellow PMCers
TPs: MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF XP, just takes a long time to do it, and requires you to update it every time a new block comes out.
Mods: If it is a good mod= XP, If not= No XP, People will also complain about when it's going to be updated, not realizing the difficulty of Java.
Servers: Will gain XP over time as more players visit the server.
Projects: These usually result in subs and diamonds if they're good enough, a good bet for XP.

Uploading quality content outside of the forums gives you xp. If you post quality content you will likely gain more xp from views, diamonds, comments and favourites. If you make bad content you won't likely get that same result. Remember to read the rules before uploading.
Anything you upload, with the exception of a forum post, is credible to earn XP.
Most new people try making skins because it recquires the least amount of work and can quickly gain you a fan base. The one thing I can't stress enough, though, is to put a lot of effort into one project instead of making a ton.
People scrolling through any part of PMC want to see good content. If it takes you a while to be able to produce that level content, it's still better then spamming really bad skins or easily made projects.

Thanks
Np, andif this post wasn't helpful enough, I'm sure a mod will post something more helpful.
Post projects with downloads. They tend to get the greatest amount of xp. Oh, and I suggest it being a texturepack.
