Mod Help.
Hey guys so I'm going to be a mod on a new server. It's a piixelmon server and I have only been a mod a couple times so I'm still a bit new. Any tips or help that might help keep me out of trouble or things that you messed up on, that is common?

I'm a co-host on a server, and some things I learned:
1. Always compliment people's building, even if it sucks. Why I say that is because if they are having a bad day, and you don't know it, you just cheered them up, also, they will remember that, and if you're a mod, you can easily get boosted up to Admin just by doing that alot.
2. If you are not on the server, people might talk about you. Try to do bad things in private if you have to. I know I have. But if people know about all the bad things you do, they will talk about that first. If you do a lot of great things, and one bad thing, people are more likely to recognize your mistake and forgive you.
3. If someone new is on the server, always say "Welcome to [Enter server name here]!" They will most likely respond by "Thanks." and I've always had some deep conversations with new members. Ask how they are feeling and how their day was, some people might open up more online then offline, most likely because they are anonymous.
4. Always play baseball with hackers/rule breakers. One strike is just a warning. "You missed your chance. Don't mess up again." Second strike is a plain kick. "You dun messed up A-aron." Third strike, batter out. Ban them for a day. This game can go on forever, until 3 outs, then they just get perm ban. That's how I play. People respect that you can give them another chance, (Like rehabilitation,) but if the player is having bad sportsmanship, (Cussing, resisting arrest, etc) just kick them, and if they come back with the same mood, ban them for a day. In the reason why you banned them, say "Calm down a bit, come back and apologize, I'll give you another chance." Unless it's their third out, then just say "Calm down. I'm sorry but you missed your chance multiple times and you are not welcome back." Cool. DO NOT: Raise your voice in the instance of this. Some hackers/rule breakers will be on the server a while until they gain your trust. If they realize what makes you mad, they will use this tactic against you. Always try to remain calm in positions like said above. People will notice that you controlled the situation calmly and with care. If they are like me, Co-host or host, you may get a upgraded rank for it.
Good luck in the real world mate. It's a dangerous place and remember: When you're staff, know your lane.

Follow all these tips, but something else-
Do be friends with them, but do NOT give a particular player items or special treatment. This will make EVERYBODY mad. Owners, players, etc. Just don't do it.

Thanks! Since you own your own Pixelmon server I will defiantly try out these tips. I hope I am a good mod. I am a people person. I love to laugh and have fun. Although when it's a serious problem I'm on the job. Thanks for the tips and hope this goes well!
No problem! It is really nothing to worry about, just use everyone's tips that you have received so far, you will be fine. Oh, and one more, keep good grammar. Nothing bothers me more than a staff member with bad grammar! Glad I could help!
That will be my fault I suck at language XD
Currently, I Own my own Pixelmon server. Some good tips I could say off the top of my head are:
1. Treat you players with respect, not power (as said above, just re-worded)
2. Get along with the other Staff members as much as you can (get on their good side!)
3. Enforce laws, don't just sit around. (This improves Staff liking)
4. Be the first to answer players questions
5. Welcome everyone that joins the server (If it is a small server, welcome people back when they rejoin)
6. Give players special tips (Where to get/find certain things)
7. If plays ask any questions such as "Anyone want to....(battle, trade, etc)" do it with them, just interact.
I hope these quick tips helped, I believe you will be a great Moderator. Good luck!

Be a 'people's mod' - meaning, try and do things with the players, and don't use creative so much.
I'm sure you will do fine with figuring out the rest.

Don't treat your players like crap just because you are higher up than them, and make time for games with the users. (be a fun mod )
Love it thank you for the advise. I will bare it in mind when I am on the server.
