alright im pretty new to modding but have been playing minecraft for about a year and i was wondering if mods that i run on 1.7.3 will work on 1.8? do i need to get a new version of modloader because each time i try i get black screen

I do not recall ever saying it was "cheating", I said why do you need mods on the 3rd day (or around 3rd day) it is out. Just play and have fun right now without mods.
It probably won't, and why do you need to have mods already? Just have fun and explore and survive, it just came out (the pre-release). Play legit.
Modding doesn't make the game illegitimate necessarily.
Stuff like adding extra fan made features or extra mobs isn't really a bad thing lol.

In answer to the question, no mods won't work unless they are updated to be compatible to the newest version by the mod's creator.
