How do i download minecraft so i can play offline?

I logged in as a normal user (i have no premium) and it just made an empty .minecraft folder
You run it once by logging in and then it downloads the files needed to play.
Then when you try to login while you or minecraft.net is offline, then you just click the 'work offline' button.
Then when you try to login while you or minecraft.net is offline, then you just click the 'work offline' button.
