I need help installing a mod!

No matter what I do, i get a error report on minecraft saying it crashed. I do everything right, and i put modloader in, but it still does not work. I deleted META-INF, put in modloader, and started it, but still no success. It could be modloader, but i doubt it. Is this happening to anybody else? Im tired of forcing the update!

If you re just trying to install modloader, make sure you downloaded the latest version, and not some older version.
Why are you not specifying the mod you are trying to download? All mods are not the same when they are being installed.
Are you on mac or windows? And also the mod you are getting could be conflicting with other mods,
Which mod is it?
