What is a schematic file: a Schematic file is essentially just a project made in Minecraft that someone has "cut out" to share with the community.
How to use a schematic file: To use a schematic file you must first, download one, secondly make sure you have installed MCEdit
How to create a schematic file: To create a schematic open up MCEdit, load up your world and find what you want to cut out or "extract". So let's say you had a house and you wanted it uploaded to here, you would find your house in MCEdit and then whilst holding left click, drag over and around your house. You will notice a faint box/grid around it, now down along the userbar at the bottom find "export schematic" and save the file, now close MCEdit and upload the file.
How to install a schematic file: Installing is exactly the same as creating a file except in reverse open up your world in MCEdit, down alogn the userbar will be "import schematic", click that and find the schematic file you want to place, once imported, place the object where you want it to be and hit "enter" (some call it the return key), now press Ctrl+S to save your world, let it save and then close MCEdit, load up your world, et voila!

you can use that... but what if you dont have a bukkit sever plus you can do other stuff with it all tho i do admit world edit is a good mad and pluggin.
I prefer to use world edit for schematics it is a plugin for bukkit servers and is fairly easy to use and in my opinion better then mcedit
ok ill sumup every thing i can think of here i go
1 a schematic file is a file is a "design for a structure" so you can take a schmatic file and "insert"it in to a world of your choosing.
2 you can use a program called mcedit to use the file and many other useful things
3 you can use mcedit to draw a 3d cube around some blocks and save em as a schematic file
4 you can use mcedit to open up your world.dat file in your world save and export/import the blocks

OK both of u ill favourite and thumbs up, but to get a subscription ill need more information than that....
its like a way to get a building in your minecraft instead of downloading their world you can just put it in your world assuming that its up for a download.
and its an file of a minecraft... thing the you can import it to your maps and you can do that with mcedit and you can create one with you guessed it mcedit
