I can't seem to upload banner to my server post and when i go to verify the server i can't get connection to my server.

I doubt it, setting it to 1.7.8 should work fine.

Checklist to make sure it will work:
Is your server portforwarded?
Did you set the MOTD that was requested and then RESTART the server?
Does the server version on the SUBMISSION match the actual server version?
people can join it and stuff but planet minecraft doesn't have an option for 1.7.9 could that be the issue?
