I have been wondering this for a long time now, what's the point of META-INF folder? What's it do anyways?

One slight incorrect thing stated on wiki is this
It is very easy to still run minecraft.jar directly from terminal/script if you know how to use java command line properly.
however, it prevents running minecraft.jar directly (from a terminal or with a script)
