How do I react when my friends call mystreet a ‘gay show about furries’? I love mystreet btw, and I hate it when they say that. But when I counteract what they say, they always find a way to turn it against me.

One assumes the term is not being used in one of its proper original meanings (Showing or characterized by cheerfulness and lighthearted excitement; merry or Bright or lively, especially in color) ….
Assuming the term is being used as a generalised derogative, just ignore it; there has not been (and never will be) any show (or other artistic expression) that has inspired universal like — insiting one's friends share all of one's taste imposes a daunting limitation on one's ability to find (and keep) friends.
Gresham’s law applies to language as much as to currency; look up King Canute before making any serious investment in fighting it…
