Hello!
I just wanna say that i think it would be good if a minecraft server could be able to bump their submissions every 6 hours.
Because 24 hours is too long. You maybe want more players on, wich mean you gotta bump it!
What would you think about that?
Good / Bad?

It is a good idea, but this will cause chaos among the server section.
LuisGoldacreRiotShieldLuisGoldacreWell this has been awfully counter-productive for XreakX's causeClick to revealAs I post this, there are 5000 people online, 25 posts have been bumped within the last 8 minutes, for the sake of the argument let's say 1000 people are checking out the server section right now, well they will see the first 25 recently bumped posts, now 1/3 find nothing interesting and continue to the next pages, 2/3 go onto those servers equally. That means 26.64 people per server (This isn't meant to be taken literally, it is just to make a point) Now say 5 minutes later another 1000 people look for servers, well there are a completely new set of servers up there, meaning only 1/3 of the people will look at your server, which means 13.32 people per server plus your existing 26.64 people.
Let's say you can only bump once only 3 days which means that those posts would stay up there for about 30 minutes or more each (Assuming that people bump at the same rate here) That means you can get 2400 people per server per every 3 days, compared to a mere 39.96 people per day. That is a drastic grow in players, and will encourage growth of servers, resulting in higher-quality servers.
Once again, this is all an argument, nobody will have 2400 people on their server, but lets make it more realistic 240 players per 3 days or 1.665 people per 3 days. I hope you understand what I am saying. I hope that Cyprezz or somebody gets to see this idea, as it would help all servers get a playerbase.
tl;dr: There would be roughly a 140% increase of players per server if you could only bump every 3 days, assuming factors stay the same from the current system to my proposed system
As Paril said, excellent summary, and very nice work with the mathematics
Thanks I messed up on the tl;dr with the percentages (It was a huge percentage when I was going to correct it, decided that I would rather just leave it at 140%. I hope Cyprezz takes my idea, would do my server wonders

RiotShieldI already said B could not be possible. But you are correct, A is a good alternative option.WaterNodeKyuzu"Not making any fancy graphics and such show that you are not aIt's mentally impossible for some people to make fancy graphics, some people are just not artistic, like me.

You have 2 choices then; A) Commission another person to do it for you or B) Attempt to learn it yourself

Excellent summation.
I read it over, and I agree. I will fwd this to Cyprezz and see what he thinks.
Thanks,

Any word on this? Did Cyprezz like it?
I bet he liked it very much.
Your contribution will do wonders (:

I hope so
Awesome, thanks Paril and if Cyprezz doesn't agree, I BLAME IT ON YOU... for some unknown reason...

I completely agree with bumping every 2-3 days.
This will actually help servers get more exposure.
This will actually help servers get more exposure.
I think it should be increased to once every 2-3 days, it would allow much more exposure than what is currently allowed.

I love how that .gif flows flawlessly
MrWolfeKyuzuDonutcashRead the post I made earlier about good servers.
It takes time and hard work to make an enjoyable server.
Or, you can have others do it for you.
You forgot to add in the part where I said:
"Not making any fancy graphics and such show that you are not a
dedicated server owner"

Uh. Dude.. some people aren't the best graphic artists or video makers. Geez, not everyone is amazing at everything like you. -.-
Excuses.
Even I suck at GFX, but at least I try.
Not making any fancy graphics and such show that you are not a
dedicated server owner. Read the post I made earlier about good servers.

Well, I would say that servers can be good, just without a good picture, or thread. People may not always comment on it, and that is great. Bumping provides more members, for a server.
That just screams "no effort". 24 hours is short enough.
If your server is good enough for players to actually
enjoy and stay on, you wouldn't really need to bump
so much anyways. Try to worry about how well your
server compares to servers in the popular reel.
Take the time to improve your server in any way possible.
Dedicate yourself to achieve nothing less than perfection.
Originality also plays a big role in your server's population.
This includes your banner. All day I see the same banners
being stolen and used by servers.

If they did that would mean your server was only on the front page for a quarter of the time, so it would do nothing in terms of views
I agree. Plus, it would be too hectic. Too calculation consuming.
Riot Shield already did the calculations
Unless.... I DIDN'T!
But it would not be a bad idea?
Because people would see it sometimes then, and then they would be able to join.
Because people would see it sometimes then, and then they would be able to join.
No it would be a waste of time and would only spam and put pressure on the site
Besides, how is 24hours not fast enough?
Besides, how is 24hours not fast enough?
*Exactly*
I don't see why this is a bad idea, I think it's good
Think of it this way:
You bump your server.
2 minutes later your server is on page 3 of the "Recently Updated" list.
This idea has its pros and cons, but the cons are more substantial.

There would be too many servers bumping at once.
Well, there are already, and all servers would grow faster.
Seen Kyuzu bump her server every 24 hr. Kyuzu hey.. Shepard left Sewercraft for your server.
I know, and I'm extremely sorry to hear.
Shepard and I have known each other for months now,
and he has grown fond of PicnicCraft since February.
I guess it's his decision on to where he wants to go.
