So i have a server running bukkit and at random times it will say "Connection Reset" and lag everyone out. It won't say anything else from there on - just "Connection Reset" and "Read Timed Out". Can anyone help?

Well there is two things I could think of ...
1. There was a java error. I run my own server and it happens to me all the time. Check the console to see.
2. I know of some hack clients where you can crash a server by push a key or doing a command so that could be a reason.
Therefor someone might have crashed it, a plugin failed, or a java error.

Would it happen from an outdated plugin?
It can. Outdated plugins, too many plugins, faulty configuration, and too little RAM can all contribute to server crashes. One of the great pains of running a server is figuring out what is wrong with stuff when it stops working.
