SLIME ATTACKS!!!

So I have a challenge which involves me playing hardcore on a flatland, and I always find shelter, but Slimes allways kill me! Any ideas on how to survive?

Find a house in a tight path that the large slimes cant get into. Always have a sword. If you are looking for a new village, try and avoid any slimes in your path.
