I used the slime chunk finder website (http://mcslimes.appspot.com/) and found a cluster of slime spawning chunks. So I made a 16x32x4 room in two of the chunks. The thing is, I've been running this almost all day and I've only gotten two tiny slimes!
Is this normal?

On Thursday I made my first slime farm (17X6X17). I quickly got my first slime in about two hours, but he didn't drop any slimeballs. Yesterday I didn't get any more, decided to renovate it a little and made two 17X3/x17 floors, with different 'areas' in case they prefer lava and/or water. About two hours later, a slime spawned (or maybe went to, I can't say for sure) by the water and dropped two slimeballs. If I've learned anything so far from this, it's that I can be really patient if its for something I'm obsessed with.

Yeah that still doesn't make slimeballs a viable resource for a recipe... Heck I do believe I have found more diamond and lapus lazuli on Zars Awesome Server than I did slimes.... no slimes found yet. I forgot to ask what size slimes?[/quote]
soz forgot to check back on this thread , also i got massive slimes and mini slimes (that cant hurt), however the small slimes seem to give more slimeballs?

Yeah, in the earlier versions I had a few slimeballs until I found out they were useless (At that point). So I tossed them in my incinerator without a second thought. Now, of course, there is a need for those stupid things.

your best chance is to keep checking on them and save up heaps

Yep, I have the same problem...tons of the valuable items, but when I actually need slimeballs, I can't get 'em.
I wonder if people destroyed or got rid of any slimeballs they found in earlier versions of the game....

Yeah, I have been doing that... I'm just dissapointed at the rarity of them....
Nah, I believe they are naturally hard to find... due to some mishap on the spawning algorithm for them or something.... I say check the wiki on minecraft.
What do you mean? They were added in Alpha 1.0.11...
Im not sure about the slimes, were the slimes in the new update?
