if you are talking in game, you kill mobs, smelt ore, basically you play the game and you get xp. The more you do this, the more xp.
If you are talking about the site, you post projects, resource packs, mods, blogs, skins, or servers, and you will get xp from the post, from people viewing it, downloading it, giving it diamonds, or giving it favorites. The higher the quality of the project, the more people will look at it and like it. fairly simple and straightforward.
