I just installed Ubuntu Server on a VM and I don't know how to get to the X11 user interface. I was told to do "start x" and it doesn't work, nor does Ctrl-Alt-F7! How do I?

It's startx, not start x
Also try xstart if that doesn't work.

I tried it but got an error message, Idk what it is right now, but I'll tell you it when I get to my other PC that I was trying to get X on, in about 7 or 8 PM EST

As far as i am aware the server version of most linux distros have less features, to reduce how many resources are needed to run the core of the os, and the lack of a gui, and lack of simplicity when adding a gui, is also to reduce resource usage, although the server version of a linux distro will most likely run 5 years without needing a restart

Why would you try to get X on a server?
I still want some employees of my business to have some of the other GUI that other Linux distros have, and it isn't really posible to use a web browser on text-only interfaces, like a CLI
